When you play with fire, eventually you get burnt. For the 3rd straight game this weekend the Bulldogs fell behind by a score of 2-0. Unlike Friday and Saturday, they couldn’t dig themselves out of the hole this time around and fell 3-2 to the Coquitlam Express on Sunday afternoon.
Penalties played a major factor in the game as the Bulldogs short handed a season high 9 times in the game. The last of which proved to be the most costly as with the game tied 2-2 and just over 5:52 left on the clock, Nicholas Beneteau was given a 5 minute major for a blow to the head as he went in on the forecheck. The penalty proved costly as Ryan Tattle scored the game winning goal on the PP with 3:57 to play in regulation time.
Stephen Castagna and Booker Daniel scored in the loss for the Bulldogs who saw their season high 8 game winning streak come to an end.
Hobie Hedquist stopped 32 of the 35 on the night.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs record to 30-13-3-1 and dropped them to 2nd place in the Coastal Conference as the Langley Rivermen have now played 1 fewer games.
The Bulldogs will look to keep their home ice winning streak intact when they host the Victoria Grizzlies on Wednesday night at the Dawg Pound.
