Veteran Goalie Billy Christopoulos Commits To The Albern Valley Bulldogs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Port Alberni, BC – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are very pleased to announce that another key piece is in place for the 2014/15 season. Billy Christopoulos, a two-year veteran goalie from the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL, has committed to finish his junior career with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

Christopoulos, from Raleigh, North Carolina, played a total of 71 regular season games for the Buccaneers over the last two seasons, posting very respectable numbers on a team that struggled to find offense.

The Bulldogs feel that Christopoulos is a hidden gem on team that failed to make the playoffs in the last two seasons.

“We are excited to welcome a player like Billy to the team,” said head coach and general manager Kevin Willison. “Billy will bring experience, character, and a desire to win. This addition makes us instantly stronger.”

Christopoulos single handedly won games for the Buccaneers in the first half of the 2013/14 season. He posted a .907 save percentage on the season, but had a .934 save percentage in the month of November. Christopoulos followed up a strong November by being recognized in mid-December as the league’s goaltender of the week after posting a 2-0 record, a 0.48 GAA and a .984 save percentage in Week 13.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to join Alberni Valley this year as I have heard nothing but great things about the league and the organization,” said the newest Alberni Valley Bulldogs goalie Billy Christopoulos. “I look forward to finishing my junior career with the Bulldogs, and making a run at the championship.”

Christopoulos solidifies a strong goalie tandem with returning goalie Nathan Warren.

Welcome to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs family, Billy.
