Wacey Rabbit Signs 2-Year Extension

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs announced on Wednesday that they have agreed to terms on a 2-year contract extension for Assistant Coach Wacey Rabbit to remain with he club through 2024.

Rabbit joined Joe Martin’s staff last year after a lengthy professional playing career and made an immediate impact on the organization.

After previously announcing a 5-year extension for Joe Martin, the organization has stability in the most important positions.  “Having Wacey back in the fold to remain with Joe Martin is a tremendous win for our organization” said club president David Michaud.  “Wacey has been a great addition to our staff and I know our players have learned a ton from him.  I’m excited for Joe & Wacey to have the chance to build on our success of last season and take the next step.”

Joe Martin echoed Michaud’s sentiment. “Coaching with Wacey again is very exciting for me. He brings an infinite value to our dressing room, on the ice, and our team culture. Welcoming Wacey back is a big day for Hockey Valley.”

The Bulldogs went 35-15-3-1 this year and claimed the Coastal Conference regular season pennant for the first time in a decade.

With a strong core returning, Rabbit was excited to come back and finish was this year’s club has started. “I’m excited to be coming back to Hockey Valley. It’s an honour to be a part of a first class organization like the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and we’re building something special.  My wife and I are proud to be a part of the Port Alberni community.”
