A huge comeback win for the Bulldogs on Wednesday night at the Dawg Pound

PORT ALBERNI, B.C – The Bulldogs never quit Wednesday night against Merritt at the Dawg Pound. Down 3-0 going into the third period, the Bulldogs battled back to tie the game up and then win it in the shootout 4-3.

Merritt scored early in the opening period and would take a 2-0 lead into the second.

Merritt scored the only goal in the middle frame and would lead 3-0 going into the third.

That’s when the Bulldogs showed some bite and the comeback was on.

Just under two minutes into the third Dawson Tritt would pot his 12th of the season to get the Bulldogs on the board. At the 8:00 mark of the frame, Jackson Doucet would pull the Bulldogs within a goal with his 6th of the season to make it 3-2.

Then with under five minutes to go, Jacob Bosse notched his 5th of the campaign to tie the game 3-3.

Overtime would solve nothing so the game headed to a shootout.

Bosse would score the only goal in the shootout while Luke Pearson came up huge stopping all three shooters he faced.

The Bulldogs would complete the comeback for a 4-3 win and pick up two big points.

Pearson made 44 saves in the win and Grayson Valente had three points on the night.

With the win the Bulldogs improved to 14-12-0-2 on the season and will be back in action on Friday in Victoria.

The Bulldogs will return home this weekend to host Salmon Arm on Saturday and Powell River on Sunday.
