Bulldogs comeback falls short on Sunday

COLWOOD B.C – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs hit the road on Sunday for an afternoon matchup against the Victoria Grizzlies.

The Bulldogs would battle hard but their comeback would fall short in a 4-3 loss.

The Grizzlies would strike first just 51 seconds into the opening period.

Captain Mitch Deelstra would tie the game up 1-1 at the 5:54 mark of the period with his 16th of the season on the power-play.

The Grizzlies would get the only goal in the second period to take a 2-1 lead into the final frame.

The Grizzlies would make it 3-1 before Dawson Tritt found the back of the net for the 11th time this season to pull the Bulldogs within one. With under four minutes to go the the Grizzlies would get their two goal lead back making it 4-2.

Ryan Doolin would pot his 11th of the season with just over a minute to go in the game to make it 4-3. However the Grizzlies would hold on for the 4-3 win.

Deelstra led the way with three points for the Bulldogs while Tritt and Doolin each had two points.

With the loss the Bulldogs fall to 13-12-0-2 and will return to action on Wednesday at home against Merritt.
