A three goal first period and some big saves from Glassford helps the Bulldogs tame the Silverbacks

PORT ALBERNI, B.C- The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have now won three games in a row after an impressive 5-3 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday night at the Dawg Pound.

The Bulldogs pounced on the Silverbacks in the opening period scoring three times in the first twelve minutes of play.

Jimmy Rayhill got the scoring started for the Bulldogs just seconds into the game when he potted his first BCHL goal.

Caige Sterzer and Jacob Bosse would add two more for the Bulldogs just 15 seconds apart later in the period.

The Silverbacks would get one back before the period came to a close but the Bulldogs would take a commanding 3-1 lead into the middle frame.

The visitors would add two goals in the second period, while Jacob Bosse would get one back for the Bulldogs with his second of the game.

Stephan Castagna would find the empty net with just 10 seconds to go in the third to seal the 5-3 win for the Bulldogs. Jackson Glassford made 39 saves for the win. Sterzer and Tim Gould each had two points on the night, while Bosse led the way with three points (2G,1A).

The Bulldogs improved to 16-12-0-2 on the season and will host Powell River at the Dawg Pound on Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is set for 2 PM.
