Bulldogs Acquire Fischer O’Brien

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are have acquired 20 year old forward Fischer O’Brien from the Penticton Vees in exchange for Future Considerations.

While O’Brien’s BCHL rights were with the Vees, the native of Prince George, BC had spent the previous 3 seasons with his hometown Prince George Cougars, playing in 151 total games between the regular season & playoffs.  Last season O’Brien had 3 goals and 9 assists during 54 regular season games, and added 5 points in 10 playoff games for the Cougars as they advanced to the 2nd round.

The 6’2″, 185 pound O’Brien earned the award as the fittest Cougar during training camp last season.  Cougars head coach and general manager described O’Brien as one of the team’s most versatile players.  The Bulldogs believe there is more offence to his game than his WHL statistics have shown, however, it’s that versatility that allows O’Brien to play against opponents top players and help the Bulldogs special-teams as well.

After clearing waivers in the WHL, O’Brien is looking forward to a fresh start with the Bulldogs. “I’m excited to finish off my junior career and 20 year in Alberni, I’ve only heard good things about the team and fans.  I’m looking too help better the team, and win some hockey games.”

O’Brien and his new Bulldogs teammates will open training camp on September 1st at the Multiplex.  The Bulldogs home opener is set for September 30th against the Nanaimo Clippers.  Tickets are on sale by CLICKING HERE
