Bulldogs Thankful for Win Over Rivermen

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs defeated the Langley Rivermen 7-4 in a Thanksgiving afternoon tilt in front of 962 fans at the Multiplex.

After a prototypical Bulldogs / Rivermen scoreless first period, the Bulldogs erupted for four 2nd period goals, before the clubs notched 3 each in a back and forth final frame.

Cam VanSickle (1,2)  and Matthew Maltais (2,3) each scored twice in the victory, while Raoul Boilard (2), Charbonneau (1),  Holm (1) all added singles in the victory.  Maltais added an assist for a 3-point afternoon and is now up to 8 points in 6 games to lead all Bulldogs scorers.

The Bulldogs outshot the Rivermen 41-40 in the contest.

The Bulldogs managed to chase Ajeet Gunadarah after the 2nd period with Charlie Tritt coming in on relief for Langley.  Callum Tung stopped 36 of 40 shots for his 2nd win of the weekend.

The win improved the Bulldogs record to 3-3-0-0 on the young season, while Langley saw it’s season long losing streak extended to 6 straight games. (0-5-0-1)

The Bulldogs will not hit the road for a pair of road games next week in Nanaimo on Friday and Powell River on Saturday.
