Game Day Preview: Bulldogs Host Rivermen in Thanksgiving Matinee

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs (2-3-0-0) host the Langley Rivermen (0-4-0-1) in a Thanksgiving Monday matinee at the Multiplex. Puck drop is 2:00 pm.

The matchup between these two Coastal Conference rivals is the first since the Rivermen ended the Bulldogs season last spring in the BCHL playoffs.

It’s safe to say that neither club is off to the start they were hoping for, but the Rivermen in particular enter today still searching for their 1st win of the 22-23 season.

The Bulldogs snapped a 3-game losing streak with their 4-1 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Saturday night, while Langley took the Clippers to a shootout yesterday before losing their 5th straight contest.  Langley has managed just 10 goals through their first 5 games of the season.

Ajeet Gundarah is back in goal for the Rivermen this season and has started all 5 games out of the gates. Expect to see Callum Tung get the start for the Bulldogs, fresh off his first BCHL win on Saturday.  Tung has been rock solid for the Bulldogs going 1-1 with a. 2.04 GAA and a .922 save %.

The Bulldogs owned the season series last year going 3-0-1-0 against the Rivermen. Langley won when it counted in the playoffs. It should be a great match-up this afternoon at the Dawg Pound.
