Caps Rally for OT Win, End Bulldogs Streak

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs looked like a team that was never really quite ready to go on Saturday night at the Dawg Pound.  Credit the Cowichan Valley Capitals who rallied for a come from behind 4-3 OT win to snap their 7 game losing streak, and in the process end the Bulldogs 4 game winning streak.

Things seemed off from the get go for the Bulldogs on Saturday, including an own-goal to start the night.

After trailing 2-0 after 20 minutes, the Bulldogs seemed to right the ship in the 2nd as they scored 3 times to take a 3-2 40 minute lead.

The Caps would get the only goal of the 3rd, just 2:23 into the 3rd period off the stick of Tanner Komzack to pull even, before winning it with just :31 seconds left in OT.  Colby Feist scored the winner, his 2nd of the game and 2nd of the season.

The Bulldogs got goals from Chase Klassen (6th), Brandon Buhr (9th) and Finn Brown (2nd) in the loss.

Bailey Monteith made 19 saves in his 2nd consecutive OT loss to kick start his BCHL career. Lucas Pfeil stopped 34 of 37 for the win.

The Bulldogs were 0-6 with the man-advantage, while the Caps were 0-7.

With the OT loss, the Bulldogs fall to 6-2-2-1 on the season.

The Bulldogs will face the Nanaimo Clippers tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm.

THREE STARS:

*** Finn Brown (1g 1a)
** Lucas Pfeil (34 saves)
