Clippers hot in the third period, beat Bulldogs 8-3

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs could not stop the Nanaimo Clippers in the third period who scored four unanswered goals in that frame to take the game 8-3.

Nanaimo’s Cal Babych would open the scoring early into the first period at 6:07 but before the period ended the Bulldogs would tie the game by Keaton Mastrodonato assisted by Ryan Steele and Tyler Vanuden.

Both goals in the first period were scored on the powerplay.

The second period went back and fourth first at 1:49 Nanaimo’s Brad Belsile would score, but it would soon be retaliated with a Bulldogs goal by Paul Selleck assisted by Cole Poliziani and Jackson Doucet.

Ryan Steele would get the Bulldogs their first lead of the game at 12:16 assisted by Sami Pharaon and Darren Rizzolo while being a man short but that was all the Bulldogs could do on the score sheet.

Nanaimo would score six unanswered goals with four of them coming in the third period to take the game 8-3.

Brock Lefebvre started in net but was replaced by John Hawthorne in the third period. Lefebvre stopped 27 of 33 shots while John faced seven shots kicking away five of them.

The Bulldogs return home tomorrow (Sunday) to take on the West Kelowna Warriors at 2:00PM.
