Rested Bulldogs Take Down Caps 5-0

A well-rested Alberni Valley Bulldogs squad took down the Cowichan Capitals by a score of 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Dawg Pound.

Lukas Jirousek had a pair of goals on the afternoon to pace the Bulldogs attack, while Castagna, Newson & Buhr added singles in the win.

Josh Van Unen also chipped in with a pair of assists as the Bulldogs top unit of Buhr, Van Unen & Castagna continue to roll along.  The trio have combined for 7 goals and 18 assists in the clubs first 4 games of the season.

Luke Pearson made 22 saves in the win for his first shoutout of the season, and the 4th of his BCHL career.

The Bulldogs had been off since suffering a loss to the Grizzlies back on Monday night while the Caps were coming of a 3-2 win over the Clippers last night.

The Bulldogs led 2-0 after 20 minutes, and blew the game open with 3 goals in the span of just under 3:00 minutes mid-way through the 2nd period to make it 5-0.  That was all the scoring in this one.  The final shots favoured the Bulldogs 41-22, including 19-3 in the 2nd period.  Both clubs finished the game 0 for 2 with the man-advantage.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 2-1-1 and the Caps fall to 2-3-1.  The Bulldogs will face the Grizzlies tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm.
