Rivalry Night: Bulldogs Head to Nanaimo

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs will finally hear the sweet cheers of the Dawg Pound faithful tomorrow night, but before they enjoy the home cooking, they need to go on one more business trip with a stop in Nanaimo to take on the Clippers at the Frank.

The Bulldogs saw their hot-streak come to an end last Saturday in Powell River with a forgettable performance.  It was the Bulldogs 1st regulation loss since all the way back on December 16th in Surrey, a streak of 12 games and 56 days.

At 30-8-1-0 the Clippers remain the top seed in the Coastal Conference and currently enjoy a comfortable 8 point lead over 2nd place Surrey.  The Bulldogs enter tonight with a record of 21-16-3-1 and find themselves in a log-jam with Victoria, Chilliwack and Coquitlam with just 2 points separating all 4 teams.

At 8-1-1-0 in their past 10, the Bulldogs are still the hottest team in the Coastal Conference.

There is no denying the Bulldogs success after the Christmas break, what started as wins over Cowichan Valley and Powell River, spilled over into a big 4-2 win over the Clippers on January 6th.  Many feel that win, set the Bulldogs up for their run.  The Bulldogs outshot the Clippers 32-23 in the game and it was as complete of an effort as the team put out up to that night.

The Bulldogs are 1-2-1-1 against the Clippers this year and have been outscored 18-14 in the 5 games.

Entering action tonight, the Bulldogs have a couple of lengthy streaks catching attention.  Dakota MacIntosh who recently committed to Merrimack College is riding a 7 game goal scoring streak, and Nicholas Beneteau, the Bulldogs leading scorer has points in 11 straight games. (2 goals 18 assists).

The Bulldogs and Clippers will square off again in a special Family Day matinee on holiday Monday.  Puck drop is 2:00 pm
